A small, well-defined first version can arrive quickly. The useful question is what it already does, what has been checked and what still needs work.
Record initial build time separately from source-data preparation, integration, tests, user feedback and deployment. A timed reconstruction with synthetic data demonstrates one scope; it does not establish how long a larger client platform took to deliver.
Choose representative inputs and compare outputs with the business rules. For a spreadsheet replacement, check the original calculations. For document work, inspect sources, omissions and the review process. A successful screenshot is one observation.
Check saved and reloaded state, permissions, failures and the final output format. Assign an owner and give them operating instructions. Decide how they can report a problem and recover from a failed run.
The first version starts the conversation. A working system has evidence, an owner and a path for improvement.
